NZ Vs PAK, 5th T20I Highlights: New Zealand closed out a 3-1 series win over Pakistan in the fifth and final T20I between the sides on Wednesday at the Wellington Regional Stadium as they chased down the target of 128 with 8-wickets and ten overs to spare riding on Tim Seifert’s unbeaten 97-run knock. Jimmy Neeshan led the Kiwi bowling attack with a fifer to limit Pakistan to 128/9 as skipper Salma Ali Aga’s fifty went in vain.

The Kiwis opened the series with a 9-wicket win over Pakistan at the Hagley Oval to seize a 1-0 advantage as they chased down a paltry target of 92 runs with 9 wickets to spare after putting the visiting batter to the sword with the leather. New Zealand went on to double down on their lead with a 5-wicket win at the University Oval in a truncated game.

Pakistan fought back in the third fixture of the series as they successfully chased down a 205-run target with 9 wickets to spare as Hasan Nawaz’s unbeaten ton and skipper Salman Ali Agha’s fifty took them over the line to make it 1-2 in the series, still in favour of the hosts.

The Kiwis, however, clinched the five-game series with a game to spare with a mammoth 115-run win over Pakistan at the Bay Oval. NZ posted a total of 220, riding on sizeable contributions from multiple players before bundling out Pakistan for 105 runs in just 16.2 overs as Jacob Duffy starred with a four-wicket haul to pick up an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series.

Earlier in the game, Pakistan scored 128 in 20 overs, driven by Skipper Salman’s half-century. Shadab also contributed significantly, but the rest of Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled. New Zealand’s bowling attack was led by James Neesham, who took five wickets. Jacob Duffy claimed two, while Ben Sears and Ish Sodhi took one wicket each.

Mar 26, 2025 14:39 IST

Chasing a modest total, New Zealand got off to a flying start, scoring 92 runs in the Powerplay. Tim Seifert, in scintillating form throughout the series, led the charge with an aggressive 97. Finn Allen provided solid support as well. Pakistan’s bowlers struggled to contain the Kiwis’ onslaught, with Sufiyan Muqeem being the only bright spot, claiming two wickets and bowling economically. With the pitch favorable for the batters, the total of 128 posted by Pakistan never looked to trouble the home side and they have breezed past this in the blink of an eye.
